Survey of Cyclist accidents and links with Dr Gayle Stitcher. Ongoing

Contact with Helius Visser re accident information survey. Richie to follow up and negotiate with Main Roads for them to become the host on their website for accident reporting.

Wrights Creek Bridge. Communication with Federal Member, Jim Turnour. Richie reported on correspondence and response from Jim regarding the hazardous condition of Wrights Creek bridge.

Bicycle Clinics. Sponsored by Queensland Rail and supported by CFN. Currently underway at Woree primary School under direction of Richie bates.

Schools Network Links. David to contact all schools to advertise the existence of CFN and encourage them to seek our support when needed.

Inter-communication between cyclists via the internet: David to explore the use of a blog site to meet this need. E.g. a resident may wish to gather people to ride a commuting route as a bike bus. Where can they currently go to do this?

Capt. Cook H/W roundabouts. Sue to request update on the provision of rubber kerb barriers on exits as well as entries.

   
 

Mid January Memorial /Ride of Silence. The Ride of Silence is held world-wide on 18th to 22nd May. CFN to continue to support the Mid January Memorial ride held each year on the Anniversary of the death of Dr Hassan Al Shazley. In Cairns this will take the place of the Ride of Silence.

   
 

Tuesday Night Bike Ride. This began on Tuesday 20th April with 12 riders and was deemed a success. To provide a more appropriate venue for socialising the group will now meet each Tuesday at PaddyWhacks on Shields Street ready for a 6:30 sharp start. Afterwards at PaddyWhacks. It was emphasised that CFN has only advertised this ride and that all cyclists are to be responsible for themselves. At the beginning of the ride cyclists without their own insurance will be encouraged to join BQ, or similar provider, to benefit from accident insurance.

It is hoped cyclists will choose to join this ride each Tuesday.
