Monday 7th June:1715

Minutes from Cycling Far North meeting

Monday 7th June:1715

Coffee Bean Café, the Pier Market Place

Apologies: Glenys Duncombe, David O'Loughlin

Present: Richie bates, Judy Phillips & Sue Rayner

  • A date to be confirmed for the first public forum meeting: awaiting feedback from Glenys & David re their availability. Early July has been proposed.
  • Executive Committee roles all filled: Richie Bates: President, Sue Rayner: Vice President, David O'Loughlin: Secretary, Judy Phillips: Treasurer, Glenys Duncombe: Executive Committee Member
  • It was discussed that it would be prudent to have a Tablelands representative as an Executive Committee member: Sue will make contact with Dave Prete, Leasie Velderhoff & Gayle Stitcher, via e-mail, for their advice on an appropriate person.
  • Web site development is in the discussion phase still. Sue has made contact with IT expert re the set up of a web page containing an Incidents page and a Log Your Ride page. Awaiting follow up and a quote before submitting to Simone Carter.
  • Sue has made contact with Dr Gayle Stitcher re the public forums around animosity towards cyclists. Agreed that these will proceed after CFN's public forum.
  • Sue suggested some interim signage at Wrights Creek bridge until main road works are complete: green cycling lane paint, a digital display either side of the bridge operating in the weekends saying: Reduce your speed, cyclists use this bridge. Richie will contact Helius at main roads.
  • Sue received no response to an e-mail asking if the work on the Captain Cook Highway roundabouts was complete. They require the rubber bumpers on the exit as well as the entrance. Sue will re-email Main Roads.
  • It was agreed that ALL new requests/bodies for work must be sanctioned by the committee and are to be in line with our goals and objectives
  • All paperwork to become incorporated is now complete and CFN is incorporated. Many thanks to Richie & Judy for completing this so quickly.

Meeting closed 1830.
